Will You Miss President Trump?

             Tomorrow is Inauguration Day, and President Donald Trump will become a private citizen once again. He will stop carrying the weight of the nation – and the world – on his shoulders, and he will attempt to go back to his regular life. Yet, life will never be the same for him again because he is not the same man that he was before becoming President of the United States. The decisions that were his to make, the events that he experienced, and the growing knowledge of national and worldly concerns have changed him. He will be missed by all Americans – whether they know it or not at this time.

            Trump gave his farewell address to the nation today, and he sounded like a world leader. I expect to see a great difference between Trump’s speech today and that of his successor tomorrow. One has great strength of mind and body, and the other struggles to string more than a few sentences together without bungling the words in some manner. It is strange because both men are about the same age with only four years between their ages.

Trump turned 74 years old last June, and Joe Biden turned 78 years old last November. By comparison, President Ronald Reagan was only 69 years old when he was elected, and Trump was only 70. We can expect that the additional seven or eight years in age will affect how Biden leads the nation. We will not see a vibrant President working long hours every single day like we saw with Trump.

I think back to how previous Presidents aged while in office. Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama were all comparatively young men when they were elected, and they all left office with many more gray hairs than they had before becoming President. Since Biden is already old, he better not age quickly, or he will be quickly pushed aside by his eager-for-power vice president-elect.

I listened to Trump’s farewell address today. I believe that he will be a strong voice for America for many years to come. Under his leadership, America became great again, and the other nations respected us once again. It was nice while it lasted!

           

Did You Think to Thank Trump?

             My VIP for this week is President Donald Trump. Today I am thinking about all the sacrifices that he made to be President of the United States. He had wealth, fame, friends, and power before he ran for President. He did not want to be President, and he put it off for a number of years – even when people like Hillary Clinton said that he would make a good president. However, he could see that his country needs his strengths, and he answered the call to serve.  He sacrificed his life of ease and fortune to be hated, censored, and blacklisted for something that he did not do. So tonight, I wish to thank him for his sacrifices. So, this post is an open letter to President Donald Trump.

Dear President Trump,

            Thank you for being willing to stand between all Americans and the enemies – foreign and domestic –who seek to destroy us. Thank you for taking the spears and arrows from the Deep State, the Democrat Party, and the mainstream media that were intended for us. You often said that they were coming after us, and that you were just in their way. We can certainly see the truth in that statement now that the election was stolen by fraud, and Big Tech has silenced you.

Now the hate-filled leftist radicals that were clamoring for your blood are coming after us. They are censoring our social media, threatening to reprogram us, and making threats about sending our children to re-education camps. The tolerant Left is not at all lenient when they are in power. We can see that conservatives are a threatened species in a nation run by Democrats and the Deep State. Thank you for protecting us for as long as you did!

            Thank you, Mr. President, for sharing your beautiful family with us. Americans with eyes to see noticed the love and the support that you received from Melania, your children, and your grandchildren. One can tell the type of man that you are because your children adore you and surround you with their strength. Thank you for being a great example of a wonderful family.

            Thank you, President Trump, for your willingness to lose wealth while you served us. Most politicians go to Washington, D.C., to become wealthy, but you did not. You were already wealthy when you announced your candidacy for President and promised to donate your salary to charity. According to this site, these are the organizations that benefitted from your donations. Thank you!

            Thank you for the donations as well as other sacrifices of wealth. I understand that other members of your family also donated their salaries to charity. I have heard of only one previous POTUS who donated his salary, and that President was John F. Kennedy. Thank you for your concern for other people.

            Thank you for showing us what it is like to have a working President. You are well-known for working long hours, and you took few vacations. You never left the United States unless you were on State Business. Unlike the previous occupants of the White House, you did not waste taxpayers’ money on personal vacation trips in all areas of the world. Melania also worked hard as First Lady, and she did so with few staff members and without any salary.

            I want you to know, Mr. President, that there are Americans that appreciate your efforts and sacrifices. As far as I am concerned, you are the best POTUS in my lifetime. I am sorry to see you treated with such distain and hate. You do not deserve it, and millions of Americans stand with you. Thank you for your service!

Why Does the Deep State Hate Trump So Much?

             The topic of discussion for this Constitution Monday is the history fact that President Donald Trump was impeached a second time this week. Trump called for his supporters to travel to Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021, the day that Congress was scheduled to certify the electoral votes. Trump was addressing the crowd of hundreds of thousands to millions of supporters during the time that “bad actors” breached the barriers at the U.S. Capitol Building. Yet, Trump and his supporters were blamed for the attack on the Capitol.

            The mob attack on the Capitol gave Democrats a much-needed “crisis” to not “let go to waste.” Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi introduced a single article of impeachment that read: “Donald John Trump engaged in high Crimes and Misdemeanors by willfully inciting violence against the Government of the United States.” All Democrats in the House, plus ten Republicans, voted to impeach Trump.

            Pelosi hoped for a quick impeachment followed by a fast conviction to remove Trump from office as quickly as possible. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell threw cold water on her plans when he said that he would not call the senators back in session to hold the trial. Undecided about voting for conviction, McConnell did not rule out a Senate trial that would eventually convict Trump. However, he insisted that the Senate was not returning until January 19. A trial will most likely be delayed until after the Inauguration of Joe Biden on January 20, which would be after Trump is out of office.

            Pelosi is expected to pass the article of impeachment to the Senate on January 19, 2021. The senators will reconvene the day prior to Inauguration Day on January 20, and no one knows what the leaders in the Senate will do. Senator Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) made the following statement declaring that removing Trump from office is beyond the constitutional authority of the Senate after he leaves office. 

The House has passed an article of impeachment against the president, but the Senate under its rules and precedents cannot start and conclude a fair trial before the president leaves office next week.

Under these circumstances, the Senate lacks constitutional authority to conduct impeachment proceedings against a former president.

The Founders designed the impeachment process as a way to remove officeholders from public office – not an inquest against private citizens. The Constitution presupposes an office from which an impeached officeholder can be removed.

            Senator Cotton declared that all decisions should be guided by “fidelity to the Constitution.” He opposed all efforts to reject certified electoral votes, and he opposes the impeachment process.

            Pelosi’s desire and action toward a quick impeachment and trial showed that she was afraid of Trump. She made it sound as though he was a danger to the country and went so far as to contact the Joint Chiefs of the military to convince them to not work with Trump. The Joint Chiefs said that they considered Trump to be their Commander-in-Chief until noon on January 20, 2021.

            We soon learned why Pelosi was in such a hurry. Within hours of the impeachment information began leaking out about the attack on the Capitol. The FBI knew that an attack on the Capitol was being planned and relayed it to the Capitol Police. The Chief of Capitol Police requested more police as well as National Guard units to help protect the Capitol. His requests – several – were declined. We have not learned who declined the requests, but it could be Pelosi and McConnell, the leaders of the House and the Senate.

            In addition, news continues to leak out about the people who attacked the Capitol Building. The timing and distance between the Capitol Building and the White House where Trump was speaking to his supporters makes it nearly impossible for the same people to be both places. Plus, the attack started 20-30 minutes before the President finished his speech.

            The nation is united in demanding that the perpetrators of the attack be arrested and tried. Republicans are always against riots and destruction, but Democrats choose the crimes that they are against or for. Now that investigators say that members of Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Antifa were leading the attack, Democrats are not so adamant. Republicans say that anyone who commits a crime should be held responsible.

            The bottom line is that Trump could not have incited the attack. He was not through speaking when the attack began. The distance between the Capitol and the site of the speech were separated by a distance of a mile and half. People have said that it would take up to 45 minutes for the Trump supporters to arrive at the Capitol. In addition, Trump did not say anything to incite the rioters. He mentioned that they would be moving to the Capitol “peacefully and patriotically to make their voices heard.” Yet, Pelosi plunged quickly into a second round of impeachment for the President.

            Thursday or Friday President Trump unclassified a stack of documents about 12-14 inches tall and ordered them to be released. The documents are the papers held by the FBI since the beginning of the Trump Administration in one of the greatest crimes ever in the U.S. government. Obamagate is a spying action led by President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on the Trump 2016 campaign and into the early weeks/months of his presidency. The head of the CIA, the FBI, and other government officials and employees were involved in the attempt to remove Trump from office. Their efforts continue to hurt and complicate the lives of several members of the Trump campaign and/or administration.

            The Russian collusion delusion was investigated for more than two years and cost the nation more than forty million dollars. The results showed nothing. Democrats were not to be denied, so they pounced on a call that Trump made with the President of Ukraine. Democrats insisted that there was quid pro quo on the call – meaning that Trump promised something to Ukraine if he got the help he wanted. Trump merely questioned some business dealings of Hunter Biden with Burisma. The Democrats ran full speed ahead to impeachment, but the Senate did not vote to convict him and remove him from office.

            Meanwhile, the China coronavirus hit the United States and dealt a blow to the U.S. economy. Democrats used the virus to hurt Trump, and they also planned to commit election fraud. At the suggestion of Hillary Clinton, key battleground states flooded their states with ballots that could not be controlled. There was election fraud, but no one will ever know if there was enough to affect the election. Judges would not look at cases, and Congress refused to investigate. Democrats finally accomplished what they wanted: get Trump out of office.

            The problem is that getting Trump out of office is not all they want. They want to destroy him. The second impeachment was rushed through to make sure that Trump is ineligible to run for any office again. Even that accomplishment does not satisfy them. They are trying to destroy him and his family financially, politically, and every other way.

            The actions of the Democrats beg one question: Why are they so afraid of Trump? The only answer that would explain their fervor in destroying him is that they are afraid that he will expose their corruption for all Americans to see. Well, the evidence is coming out. Emails about the Biden family corruption in doing business with China show that Biden is compromised. He has already sold America out. The unclassified information about Obamagate is proof of the corruption in the Deep State and that Obama was instrumental in it. The Deep State is nothing but a secret combination or a group of secret combinations.

The fact is that the President of the United States does not run the country. He is a figurehead for a nation led by corrupted individuals who are trying to destroy the U.S. Constitution and government. Up until Trump, the President either worked with the perpetrators or turned their heads away from the evidence. The government of the United States is under the control of secret combination(s), and Trump was standing between them and the American people.

From their point of view, Trump had to go one way or another. I prefer that he lose the election rather than lose his life, but his exit from the White House leaves Americans – Trump supporters and Trump haters – with a defender. We are now at the mercy of the perpetrators of the greatest governmental scandal in our history.

Why Is the Visit of Elijah Important?

             In my Come, Follow Me studies this week, I studied a lot about Joseph Smith and the persecution that he and his family faced because he said that he saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. The studies included Doctrine and Covenants 2, which is an extract from Joseph Smith – History. This section relates the words of the angel Moroni to Joseph Smith on the evening of September 21, 1823, in Manchester, New York. Moroni was the last of a long line of historians who kept the records that were translated into what we know as the Book of Mormon – Another Testament of Jesus Christ. These words spoken by Moroni to Joseph Smith now constitute Doctrine and Covenants 2:

1 Behold, I will reveal unto you the Priesthood, by the hand of Elijah the prophet, before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

2 And he will plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers.

3 If it were not so, the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming.

            The first sentence in this section says that Elijah would come to reveal the Priesthood. John the Baptist had already come to bring the Aaronic Priesthood, and Peter, James, and John had already come to bring the Melchizedek Priesthood. What priesthood would Elijah reveal when he appeared in the Kirtland Temple on April 3, 1836? Elijah came to bring the keys of the sealing power of the priesthood. According to the Prophet Joseph Smith:

The spirit, power, and calling of Elijah is, that ye have power to hold the key of the revelation, ordinances, oracles, powers and endowments of the fullness of the Melchizedek Priesthood and of the kingdom of God on the earth; and to receive, obtain, and perform all the ordinances belonging to the kingdom of God, even unto the turning of the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the hearts of the children unto the fathers, even those who are in heaven….

… What is this office and work of Elijah? It is one of the greatest and most important subjects that God has revealed. He should send Elijah to seal the children to the fathers, and the fathers to the children….

Again: The doctrine or sealing power of Elijah is as follows: -- If you have power to seal on earth and in heaven, then we should be wise. The first thing you do, go and seal on earth your sons and daughters unto your fathers in eternal glory (Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph Smith [2007], 311-12).

            The Prophet Joseph Smith was not the only latter-day prophet to write about Elijah’s mission in 1836. President Joseph Fielding Smith explained that Elijah’s visit brought the greatest blessings possible to the children of God through the powers of the priesthood.

Elijah’s mission was the sealing power. He held the keys by which the parents could be sealed together, and children sealed to parents. He bestowed these keys upon the Prophet Joseph Smith. And that applies to the dead as well as the living since the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.

… But what was the nature of his mission to the earth in these latter days? It was to restore power and authority which once was given to men on the earth and which is essential to the complete salvation and exaltation of man in the kingdom of God. In other words, Elijah came to restore to the earth, by conferring on mortal prophets duly commissioned of the Lord, the fulness of the power of priesthood. This priesthood holds the keys of binding and sealing on earth and in heaven of all the ordinances and principles pertaining to the salvation of man, that they may thus become valid in the celestial kingdom of God (Doctrines of Salvation, 2:117).

            Elijah, the Old Testament prophet, visited the Prophet Joseph Smith and bestowed upon him the power to seal in heaven and on earth. Elijah used the power to seal the heavens. The drought became so bad that crops would not grow. The heavens remained sealed until Elijah unsealed the heavens.

            That same power was given to the Prophet Joseph Smith, and it has been handed down from prophet to prophet, the from the days of Joseph Smith to the time of President Russell M. Nelson. The sealing power can be used in many ways, but it is mainly used to seal children to their parents.

            Latter-day revelation tells us that members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are the posterity of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob by lineage or by adoption. My patriarchal blessing tells me that I come through the loins of Ephraim, the son of Joseph, the same Joseph who was sold into Egypt. President Nelson, then Elder Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles described the promises of God’s covenant with Abraham:

The covenant God made with Abraham and later reaffirmed with Isaac and Jacob is of transcendent significance. It contained several promises, including:

·         Jesus the Christ would be born through Abraham’s lineage.

·         Abraham’s posterity would be numerous, entitled to an eternal increase, and also entitled to bear the priesthood.

·         Abraham would become a father of many nations.

·         Certain lands would be inherited by his posterity.

·         All nations of the earth would be blessed by his seed.

·         And that covenant would be everlasting – even through “a thousand generations” [Deuteronomy 7:9; 1 Chronicles 16:15; Psalm 105:8].

Some of these promises have been fulfilled; others are still pending….

… We have received, as did they of old, the holy priesthood and the everlasting gospel. We have the right to receive the fulness of the gospel, enjoy the blessings of the priesthood, and qualify for God’s greatest blessing – that of eternal life.

Some of us are the literal seed of Abraham; others are gathered into his family by adoption. The Lord makes no distinction. Together we receive these promised blessings – if we seek the Lord and obey His commandments (Ensign, November 2011, 87-88).

            When the scripture says that God would plant the promises made to the fathers in the hearts of the children, He was referring to the promises made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. However, when He referred to the hearts of the children turning to their fathers, He was referring to dead ancestors.

            This scripture about Elijah returning with the sealing power is the beginning of the family history program of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Members of the Church research to find their ancestors and then take their names to the temple where the sealing ordinances are done. Thus, sealing children to their fathers as far back as possible in one great chain of family. The sealing of families together for eternity is so important that “the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming” without it.

Do You Need to Leave a Toxic Situation?

             Individuals, families, communities, organizations, and nations are stronger when they realize that some people and some places are toxic to them and/or for them. There are some people and places that poison anyone that comes near them, and other people and places that are welcoming to everyone. We are stronger when we recognize that we must leave people and places behind and move on with our lives.

            Children should be taught that trying to be friends with a bully is not good for them. Instead of always trying to please the bully, they should look for someone who will appreciate them for themselves. This applies to teenagers and people who are married. There is nothing wrong and everything right to leave behind all toxic situations and move on to people and places who will be supportive.

            If children and teens learn this principle while young, they may be able to avoid abusive relationships by leaving them when the first signs of toxicity arise. There are two big examples in the news today that show the value of knowing when it is time to leave.

            It appears that New York City as well as the state of New York have become toxic to the Trump family. When Donald and Melania Trump quietly changed their official residence from New York to Florida in 2019, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted, “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out or whatever.” New York Governor Andrew Cuomo wrote, “Good riddance. It’s not like @realDonaldTrump paid taxes here anyway… He’s all yours, Florida.” This week, New York City declared that it will cut all business ties with the Trump Organization. Now, some of the Trump children have indicated that they will follow their father to Florida. Why not, the headquarters of their business does not need to stay in New York.

            Today, the National Rifle Association (NRA) filed a voluntary petition for chapter 11 bankruptcy in a Dallas, Texas, federal court. Executive Vice President and CEO Wayne LaPierre said the following in a letter to NRA members. 

Today, the NRA announced a restructuring plan that positions us for the long-term and ensures our continued success as the nation’s leading advocate for constitutional freedom – free from the toxic political environment of New York. The plan can be summed up quite simply: We are DUMPING New York, and we are pursuing plans to reincorporate the NRA in Texas.

            The move will take the NRA out of “a corrupt political and regulatory environment in New York” to Texas where it will become a nonprofit. Texas Governor Greg Abbott indicated that the NRA could find a happy home in Texas when he tweeted: “Welcome to Texas – a state that safeguards the 2^nd Amendment.”

            For several months, news articles have carried accounts of ordinary Americans flowing out of liberal states like California and New York and heading to conservative states like Florida and Texas. Liberal governors and mayors do not seem to understand that the money to run their cities and states comes from the people and corporations. If the people and corporations move out, the money also goes.

The biggest thing wrong with the people leaving the liberal states is that they take their liberal ideas with them. Conservative states need to be aware that the makeup of their states will be changing and prepare for the change.

Just as the Trump family and the NRA are moving from toxic situations, individuals and families should also be aware that sometimes changes must be made for their good. When people remove themselves from toxic situations and leave the toxicity behind, families, communities, and nations are stronger.

 

 

How Many Non-Trump Supporters were in the Mob?

             A mob breached the barriers at the U.S. Capitol Building on January 6, 2021. Some of them were wearing MAGA hats and dressing like supporters of President Donald Trump. Immediately, the cry went up that Trump supporters were trashing the Capitol, and Democrats in Congress began to plan a second impeachment of Trump. One week after the attack and without any investigation, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi pushed an impeachment vote. Ten Republicans joined every Democrat in the House to impeach Trump.

            According to this site, the Department of Justice said today that John Earle Sullivan, a Black Lives Matter activist from Utah, has been arrested and charged for his participation in the breaching of the Capitol. He was charged with unlawful entry, disorderly conduct, and attempted obstruction of law enforcement in the attack on the Capitol. According to an affidavit in support of a criminal complaint against him, Sullivan made clear that he does not support President Donald Trump.

“The United States obtained a video of Sullivan, posted on YouTube, in which, while attending a protest in Washington, D.C., Sullivan can be seen telling a crowd, over a microphone, ‘we about to burn this s-t down,’ ‘we got to rip Trump out of office … f-ing pull him out of that s-t … we ain’t waiting until the next election … we about to go get that motherf-er,’” the affidavit said. “Sullivan then can be seen leading the crowd in a change of, ‘it’s time for a revolution.’”

The document said Sullivan stated in an interview that “he was wearing a ballistic vest and gas mask while there. He showed the interviewing agent the ballistic vest. He further stated that he entered the U.S. Capitol with others through a window that had been broken out. Sullivan stated he followed the crowd as the crowd pushed past U.S. Capitol Police and followed the crowd into the U.S. Capitol.”

The affidavit said that in a video Sullivan provided to authorities, he “can be heard in the video saying at various points: ‘There are so many people. Let’s go. This s-t is ours! F-yeah,’ ‘We accomplished this s-t. We did this together. F-yeah! We are all a part of this history,’ and ‘Let’s burn this s-t down.”

The affidavit outlines one act of vandalism.

The camera then pans to show more of the window and a broken pane can be seen that was not broken on Sullivan’s approach to the window: Sullivan can then be heard saying, ‘I broke it. My bad, my apologies. Well they already broke a window, so, you know, I didn’t know I hit it that hard. No one got that on camera.’ Sullivan then exits the office.”

            This is not the first time that Sullivan has been involved in a riot. He organized a counter-protest against a pro-police event in June in Utah, and he was charged with making a threat of violence and criminal mischief. If he is from Utah, he obviously made special effort to be in Washington, D.C., at the time of the Trump protest – but not as a Trump supporter. I wonder how many other non-Trump supporters were involved in the assault.

Are You Ready for the Coming Circus?

            Today is another sad day in America. The Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives, led by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and joined by ten Republicans, impeached President Donald J. Trump for the second time. In doing so, they cheapened the process and made it meaningless. Now, impeachment is a political tool and means nothing. It no longer brings shame on a politician, and it may become a badge of honor at some time in the near future. “I wonder how many times I can be impeached and remain in office!”

            The Democrats at least had a real charge this time – “incitement of insurrection” – even if it is a faulty one. Insurrection is citizens rebelling against their government with acts of violence. It is a crime under federal law to incite, assist, or engage in such conduct against the United States. At no time did Trump “incite” his supporters to rebel against the government.

The first time that the do-nothing Democrats impeached Trump, they did not even have a real reason. However, they do not seem to care because they are never forced to face the consequences. They can do or say whatever they want – even incite violence in riots, and their voters will continue to vote blindly for them. Why should they obey rules? All that is important is that they win and continue the governmental handouts. Blacks are starting to wise up to the Democrat tactics – promise lots of free stuff and do nothing to help – and leave the Democrat plantation. I wonder when Whites will follow them.

The fact is that Trump did not incite the riot. He obviously believed that he lost a rigged election and sought to pursue every constitutional means possible to prove fraud. He succeeded in his task even though no institution would hear evidence.  At first, the Left said that there was no election fraud. Then their claim was that it was not widespread. Then they argued that there was not enough fraud to overturn the election. How will we ever know when no real investigation was held?

 It is true that Trump invited his supporters to Washington, D.C., and he is guilty of being naïve enough to believe that only his supporters would come. He knew that he had no need to worry about his law-abiding, patriotic citizens, but he apparently did not consider that bad actors would infiltrate his supporters. Trump mentioned to his supporters that they would soon be moving over to the Capitol “peacefully and patriotically.” Then he continued talking for another half hour or so. Meanwhile, the barrier at the Capitol Building was breached while Trump was still speaking more than a mile away. There is no way that the people listening to Trump could be the same people who breached the Capitol unless they time travel.

Pelosi rushed the impeachment through the House so fast that it makes her look even more like a crazy woman. What could scare her so much that she would take such drastic action? What “dirt” does Trump have on her and the rest of the swamp? It must be bad!

I hope that Trump unclassifies every paper and report that he possibly can before he leaves the Oval Office and spills all the filth spread by the Swamp creatures over the past fifty years. They surely think that they won a victory today, but they just showed their true natures --hatred and vindictiveness – for all the nation to see.

The impeachment vote will assure that Donald J. Trump will be written up in the history books. As the first President of the United States to be impeached twice, he will not be forgotten. When future generations see that he was impeached twice, they will do more research to determine why. Then the truth will come out, and mud will be thrown over the names of Nancy Pelosi and her minions. Trump will go down in history as the only politician that kept his campaign promises – and got impeached twice for doing so!

Pelosi used impeachment as a political tool to protect the Swamp rather than a process to protect America and Americans. It now opens the door to every President being impeached for nonsense reasons. I understand that papers will be presented in the House of Representatives on January 21, 2021, to impeach Biden. I wonder how many times Biden will be impeached! It might be better to impeach Biden and Harris as a pair and make it two for one. Maybe we can hire venders to sell popcorn and peanuts outside Congress and turn our nation into a real circus.
