The topic of discussion for this Constitution Monday is equality. The United States was formed on the idea that all men are created equal. In our quest to achieve equality, we have often gone too far and made things worse. This is what happened with a program recently discovered by President Donald Trump.
President Trump discovered that federal
agencies were using taxpayer money to fund seminars where federal employees
were taught that the country is racist. His administration has ordered all
federal agencies to start the process of defunding such seminars. Under
direction from President Trump, Russell Vought, director of the White House
Office of Management and Budget, released a memo on Friday explaining that such programs were being cut. The document was sent
to the heads of executive departments and agencies and shared online.
It has come to the President’s attention
that Executive Branch agencies have spent millions of taxpayer dollars to date “training”
government works to believe divisive, anti-American propaganda.
For example, according to press reports,
employees across the Executive Branch have been required to attend trainings
where they are told that “virtually all White people contribute to racism” or
where they are required to say that they “benefit from racism.”
According to press reports, in some cases
these training[s] have further claimed that there is racism embedded in the
belief that America is the land of opportunity or the belief that the most
qualified person should receive a job.
According to Vought’s memo, such
programs “not only run counter to the fundamental beliefs for which our Nation
has stood since its inception, but they also engender division and resentment
within the Federal workforce.” He expressed gratitude for a federal government
that employs members of “all races, ethnicities, and religions.” “However, we
cannot accept our employees receiving training that seeks to undercut our core
values as Americans and drive division within our workforce.”
Vought instructed all agencies to “immediately
identify” any funds that are related to teaching “radical theories regarding
race and sociology” and to cut them “as soon as legally possible.” The memo continued.
These include “‘critical race theory,’ ‘white
privilege,’ or any other training or propaganda effort that teaches or suggests
(1) that the United States is an inherently racist or evil country or (2) that
any race or ethnicity is inherently racist or evil.”
In addition, all agencies should begin to
identify all available avenues within the law to cancel any such contracts
and/or to divert Federal dollars away from these un-American propaganda training
sessions.
Even though the Trump administration
is committed to equality in the workplace, Vought said that there is no place
in the Federal government for “the divisive, false, and demeaning propaganda of
the critical race theory movement” because it is “contrary to all we stand for
as Americans.”
The condemnations and accusations
against the Trump administration began immediately. They claimed that the crackdown
on the antiracism training is “anti-American” and other similar comments. My
question is, who is responsible for starting this propaganda in the first
place? People who believe that America is racists have no place working in the Federal
government. My next question is, why would somebody want a federal workforce
that hated America? Why do such people even live in the United States?
The United States of America has the
most freedom of any other country on earth and best system for achieving
individual wealth. There are millions of people throughout the world who would
like to live in America because it is a “shining city up on hill” to many of
them. It would be nice if we could trade all the people who hate America for
those who would be good citizens. Meanwhile, the best that we can do is
re-elect Donald Trump because he is the only person standing between America as
we know it and destruction of the American way of life.
